Editor’s Letter:

This week's edit stays close to home.

Five Cotswolds addresses, each shaped by a different relationship with time. Thyme and Daylesford Stays represent the countryside as a designed system — structured, coherent, intentional. Cheltenham Racecourse is tradition performed at scale. Chavenage House is something quieter: four centuries of continuous occupation, unreset and unhurried. At Donnington Brewery, production continues much as it has since 1865.

What connects them is not geography. It is an understanding of what they are and a refusal to be anything else.

PLACE
Still Brewing: Donnington Brewery

A 13th-century water mill northwest of Stow-on-the-Wold, brewing since 1865. The original wheel still drives the pumps and machinery. Water comes from a hillside spring on the estate. A mill pond with black swans, trout in the current, peacocks in the yard. Twenty tied houses across the Cotswolds — including the Horse and Groom at Bourton on the Hill, Michelin Bib Gourmand. Nothing has been added to make it more appealing. It does not need that either.

LIVING
The Estate as Lifestyle: Daylesford Stays

Cottages built in local stone, spread across Daylesford Village, Kingham and Lower Oddington. The accommodation is the entry point. The estate — working organic farm, Bamford Wellness Spa, cookery school, farm-to-table dining — is the product. Guests do not construct an experience from what is nearby. They arrive into one that is already fully formed.

EXPERIENCE
Tradition, at Scale: Cheltenham Racecourse

Four days in March that define the National Hunt season and a significant portion of the Cotswolds social calendar. The Gold Cup. The Champion Hurdle. An Irish contingent that numbers in the tens of thousands. The hill behind the course filling across the week. Cheltenham does not need to be explained to those who have been. For those who have not, it is overdue.

How Will You Generate Retirement Income?

Most people with $1,000,000 or more saved have a number. Fewer have a plan for turning it into reliable income. Fisher Investments' Definitive Guide to Retirement Income helps you calculate future costs and build a portfolio strategy around them.

LIVING
Rural Space, Designed: Thyme

A working farm, a cookery school, a spa and a collection of restored Cotswold stone buildings in Southrop. Thyme is not a hotel that happens to have grounds. Land, food and hospitality operate as a single system — the farm supplies the kitchen, the kitchen informs the experience, and the experience is shaped by the estate itself. Less a place to stay. More a way of organising rural space.

EXPERIENCE
The House That Has Not Changed: Chavenage House

An Elizabethan manor near Tetbury, built around 1576, owned by only two families since Tudor times and still occupied by the Lowsley-Williams family today. Tours are led by family members. Nothing is roped off. The dogs wander through. It has appeared on screen as Trenwith in Poldark, The Priory in Rivals and Styles Court in Poirot — requiring almost no dressing each time. The house does not lean into it. It does not need to.

From The Reset Series™

If you missed this week's Weekly Reset, we focused on bloating — and what it's actually telling you.

Rather than treating it as a minor digestive issue, the focus was on how bloating reflects wider patterns in digestion, gut health and how the body processes load more broadly.

The Bloating Reset builds on this, offering a practical way to support digestion through consistency, rather than restriction.
